Frank T. Clampitt was born in Hardin County, Iowa, in 1860. His memior relates historical accounts of the area and his pioneer ancestors who settled there prior to the Civil War. Memories of his childhood and young adulthood include anecdotes about the Amana Colonies, the Quaker meeting house at Honey Creek, Iowa, and his own personal biography. He died in New Providence, Iowa, in 1943.
Alice M. (Clampitt Farrell) Olson was born near New Providence in Hardin County, Iowa, in 1904. Her unpublished memoir contains anecdotal accounts of her life, which revolve around north central Iowa, and her career in social work. In 1995, when she compiled her memoir, she was 91 years old and living in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
