The Flora Garden Club of Manchester, Iowa was organized on February 11, 1949. During the early years, the Club was affiliated with the National Council for State Garden Clubs, Incorporated. The Flora Garden Club originally met on the first and third Friday of every month from February through December. Membership was not to exceed twenty-four. Officers of the club included a president, vice-president and a secretary-treasurer. In the beginning committees included membership, program, flower, park, and calling committees. Dues were fifty cents per year and paid for membership in the City Federation as well as other expenses. Early programs included "Plant Shrubs for Color All Season", "Birds in Your Backyard", and "Conservation".

The Flora Garden Club of Manchester, Iowa records date from 1950 to 2002 and measure 8 linear inches. The records include notebooks the club maintained for flower shows. The notebooks recorded participants, their entries and whether or not they won or placed in the competitions. The records also include newspaper articles about the club's activities; a program planning book issued by the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Incorporated; program books spanning the years 1957-2002 listing the programs for each meeting; and secretary-treasurer records for 1950-1963 and 1976-1999. The scrapbook covers the period 1949-1951 and includes photographs. The club decided to disband in 2004 due to declining numbers and a lack of younger membership.
