Millicent Cuplin, educator and football enthusiast, was born in Iowa Falls, Iowa, on December 4, 1866. Cuplin graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1884 and returned there to work as an assistant until 1890. Cuplin graduated from the State University of Iowa (now the University of Iowa) in 1892 and taught mathematics at East Des Moines High School for nine years. During this time she coached and sponsored East High's first football team and helped make football an official school sport. In 1902 Cuplin moved to Prescott, Arizona, and served as principal of Prescott High. Cuplin eventually returned to Iowa Falls and lived there until her death on March 31, 1950.
