Ida "Belle" Bandfield Holden was a schoolteacher in the Waterloo area at the turn of the century. She was married to Anson Holden and they had a daughter, Florence. Anson Holden died of tuberculosis in 1899, less than a month after Belle Holden's mother passed away. These deaths had a profound effect on Holden. She remarried in 1904 and shortly thereafter took her own life.

Acquisition: The papers (donor no. 114) were donated in 1993 by Helen George, whose grandmother, Maude Bandfield, was Belle Holden's niece.
