Hazel Beck Andre, a resident of Ames, was married to Dr. Floyd Andre, Dean of Agriculture at Iowa State College (now Iowa State University). They had three children--two girls and one boy. Andre wrote the article, "My Last Wonderful Days," after she discovered that she was dying of cancer. It was her hope that "it might help someone else face such a crisis." Andre died in 1956, a few weeks after the article was written.

Use: Copyright has been transferred to the University of Iowa.
Acquisition: The papers (donor no. 103) were donated in 1991 by Alice Andre Backsen, Andre's daughter.
